School pickup, Taekwondo, homework support and more. A convenient, structured and active after-school option for children from Kindergarten through Grade 8, Monday through Friday from school dismissal until approximately 6:00 p.m.
Families choose which days their child will attend when registering. These selected days become the child’s set weekly schedule. Registration and requested days are subject to availability.
Children are picked up from the designated bus line/pickup area at their school at the school’s dismissal time. Arrival times at the academy vary by school and pickup route.
Parents are responsible for informing their child’s school that North Durham Taekwondo Academy will be picking up their child, and on which days of the week the child is registered for the After-School Program.
If your child is absent from school or will not require their regularly scheduled pickup, please notify the North Durham Taekwondo office so our pickup team knows not to expect your child.
Snack time: after arriving, children settle in and have their snack. Parents provide their child’s snack in a lunch bag or lunchbox.
Taekwondo training and activities: beginning at approximately 4:00 p.m., students take part in about 45 minutes to one hour of scheduled activity and training time. All After-School students wear their North Durham Taekwondo-provided uniform for training.
Homework and quiet time: about 15–20 minutes of homework or quiet time, with staff available to help with homework when needed. Children without homework can work in a workbook, read quietly or choose another quiet activity.
Free time: children enjoy free time until they are picked up.
Each child has a cubby at the academy to store their Taekwondo uniform, snack/lunch bag or lunchbox and other necessary program belongings, making it easy to transition from school into their afternoon routine.
Parents may pick up their children throughout the afternoon, with regular pickup by 6:00 p.m. If you will be later than 6:00 p.m., please call the North Durham Taekwondo office. We understand that delays can happen, and there are no additional late-pickup fees.
Registration is completed through our online registration portal. Registration is based on program availability and the number of spaces available on the requested days, so families are encouraged to register early. If the program is full, families may be added to our waitlist and contacted when an appropriate space becomes available.
PD Day Camps are separate from the After-School Program and have their own registration. See our Camps page for details.
